What Is a Developmental Educator?

A Developmental Educator is a recognised allied health professional, just like an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Speech Pathologist.

The difference is that Developmental Educators are university trained specifically in working with neurodivergent people and their families, across the lifespan. This specialised training allows us to support not only the individual, but also the important people and environments around them.

Developmental Educators:

  • Work holistically with individuals, families, schools, and workplaces

  • Focus on functional skill development across everyday life

  • Support social, emotional, communication, and independence goals

  • Take a strengths-based, neuro-affirming approach

Developmental Educators have been recognised by the NDIS since 2011 alongside other allied health disciplines and are billed at the same rate as Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology services.
